I only got through 11 books this month. I’ve been trying my best not to bring too much of my personal life in to my reading blog, but alas, a difficult month with a bereavement and a bunch of other stuff going on in the background made it a bit harder to settle down and concentrate some of the time. I still found a couple of gems this month though, and have discovered myself to be a huge fan of James Smythe.
- ★★★★★ The Explorer by James Smythe
- ★★★☆☆ Organize Tomorrow Today by Jason Selk
- ★★★★★ The Echo by James Smythe
- ★★★☆☆ We’re All Damaged by Matthew Norman
- ★★★★☆ The Fate of Ten by Pittacus Lore
- ★★☆☆☆ Not Working by Lisa Owens
- ★★★★☆ The Master by Claire North
- ★★★☆☆ Don’t Make Me Think, Revisited by Steve Krug
- ★★☆☆☆ What Might Have Been by Matt Dunn
- ★★★☆☆ Very British Problems by Rob Temple
- ★★★★☆ The Book of Phoenix by Nnedi Okorafor
I knocked four goals off the big reading challenge this month, having completed Claire North’s Gameshouse trilogy, the sixth book in Pittacus Lore’s I Am Number Four series, the first two books from James Smthe’s futuristic Explorer tetralogy, and a couple from the humour category that were by definition funny books (but not entirely so in the reading):-
- A book with a number in the title
- A funny book
- A trilogy
- A book set in the future
June is likely to be a writing and travelling around month, so reading may have to take third place. I’m still ahead of schedule to hit my Goodreads 150 book challenge, though might be starting to fall behind my goal of rivalling last year’s 200.
